Meet the Trustees

The Cecil Grant Founder's Trust Deed, required a minimum of seven trustees, made up of two School Governors, two Old Georgians, two Parents, and the Headmaster.

The Cecil Grant Founder's Trust Deed, required a minimum of seven trustees, made up of two School Governors, two Old Georgians, two Parents, and the Headmaster. The CGFT Trustees are all volunteers whose role is to administer the Trust in accordance with the Rev Cecil Grant’s wishes.

Niki Kirby – Chair – Georgian Trustee

Niki is a former pupil of St George’s from 1980-87 and remembers her time at the school with great fondness.  Niki has been a member of the Georgian Association Committee and a trustee of Cecil Grant Founder’s Trust for several years prior to taking over as Chair of the Fund in November 2013.  She has been a qualified solicitor for 20 years, currently working for a global US law firm, and specialises in compliance and anti-money laundering.  Niki is Mum to twin boys, who attend St George’s, and lives in Wheathampstead with husband Andy.  Her free time is spent on home improvements, long dog walks and finding new activities to exhaust the children.

   
David Horton – Secretary – Georgian Trustee

David is a former pupil of St Georges from 1983-90. David has been a member of the Old Georgians for several years and took over as Secretary of CGFT in November 2013. He has been a qualified solicitor since 2003 and works as a commercial lawyer for a media technology company, based at Pinewood Film Studios. David lives in Harpenden with his wife Rebecca and two children. In his spare time David is a ski instructor (a passion arising from St George’s ski holidays) and teaches at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead.

   
Jennie Griffiths - Treasurer - Parent Trustee

A parent of two young sons, Jennie lives in Harpenden and was introduced to the Cecil Grant Founder's Trust by Niki Kirby when the Trust was on the look-out for a new Treasurer. Jennie trained as a Chartered Management Accountant at Safeway Stores PLC before moving to First Quench Retailing Ltd and Whitbread PLC. After a short career break to have children (during which time Jennie worked as a Clerk to the Governing Body for local schools), Jennie returned to accountancy at a Chartered Accountants practice in Wheathampstead, where she enjoys supporting a range of clients.

Sal Lennon – Parent Trustee

An active member of the PSA, running fetes, fayres and various events, Sal served 3 years as PSA Chair (2009-2012), and is a company member of St George’s School (Harpenden) Ltd. A parent of 3 boys, Sal’s association with St George’s will span 14 years in 2017, when her youngest son finishes his education. She currently invigilates exams and is a volunteer in the school. Formerly Sal was treasurer for 5 years of her primary school PTA and in her business career co-founded an Auctioneering/Estate Agency Company in Ireland. She is currently Company Secretary and Director of a private UK company.

   
Elizabeth Cowan – Parent Trustee

Liz is a parent to two children both currently at St George’s and she volunteers in the Science Department. She also jointly runs the Tea Tent every year at the school summer Fete. Liz trained and practiced as a solicitor before she had her children. Until recently Liz was PCC Secretary of her church and she is secretary of her children’s Scout troupe. In her spare time Liz enjoys singing in a local Chamber Choir, playing tennis and walking the dog.

   
Beverly Greenfield – Parent Trustee

Beverly is a parent of two children, one currently at St George’s, and is an active member of the PSA. She previously worked for the Royal London Society for the Blind for 14 years, helping visually impaired and vulnerable people with learning, physical or mental health difficulties into sustainable employment; Beverly now works for Hertfordshire County Council. Hobbies include cooking, spending time with family and friends and supporting her church team at St John’s in Lemsford

   
Jane Hyman – Parent Trustee

A parent of two daughters at St George’s, Jane is an architect, and was a director of an international firm of architects prior to moving to Harpenden. She was also a Design Tutor at Kingston University for three years. At Roundwood Primary Jane was Vice Chair of Governors for four years, as part of the Finance and Premises committee.  When she has time, Jane ‘enjoys’ running and gardening.
