Catering continues to serve…….
As Head of Catering I strive to ensure that the finest quality of the meals served, whether its meals to the boarders, day students, teaching and support staff and of course our functions.
We have had Big Curry Day – a huge undertaking of serving over 900 curries in just over an hour – the Chefs came in the day before to marinade beef and chop onions, peppers, garlic and the like, whilst other members of the team prepared the Sunday lunch for boarders, somehow even Chris Evan from Radio 2 heard we where in preparing and gave us a mention on Monday morning!! The Korma sauce was made and the bags containing specially printed bottles of water, muffins and fruit where all put together, the weather was kind so we managed to have some students eating outside whilst the other stayed in the Dining Room and eat with the boys from The Royal Artillery who where here to do workshops with our very lucky students then treat us to a concert in the evening.
In March one of our staff members Geoff Spencer and Alison Reeve had their wedding blessing in the School Chapel, the sun shone and the very happy couple joined by close members of their family and friends enjoyed a moving ceremony complete with School choir followed by a Vintage Tea Party in the Old Library – the room was laid with crisp white linen and each place setting had its own set of vintage china – each tea cup was tagged with a luggage label with the name of the guest – all part of theme of the day. The menu included fresh sandwiches, Victoria sandwich, cup cakes and chocolate brownies and of course every ones favourite a nice pot of English tea!!
We have had the Sportsperson Dinner – a formal affair in the gorgeous surroundings of our Old Library , eighty two very smartly dressed young men and ladies from years 11, 12 and 13 celebrating (and some receiving awards) their sporting efforts.
We had the Boarders May Ball served in the Dining Room, decorated with coloured balloons and flowers and we where treated to musical delights by our resident boarders.
We still have a Prefects Dinner to prepare for on June 22nd and a barbeque lunch for boarders and parents on June 23rd – so we hope the sun comes out or at least the rain stays away!!
