Residential Lettings
St George’s Harpenden was established when Rev. Cecil Grant, to use his own words, "migrated" to the town in 1906 from Keswick in the Lake District. He was Headmaster of Keswick School which had been re-established in l898 after a lapse of many years, as a co-educational boarding school. Mr. Grant became increasingly frustrated by local criticism and the interference of the recently established local education authority. He also wanted a school with its own Chapel. Grant identified vacant buildings in Harpenden which had been built by the Rev. R. H. Wix, and used from 1887 as a boarding school for 100 boys.
Located within Harpenden a picturesque Hertfordshire town situated 5 miles north of the historic town of St Albans, St George’s is an ideal venue for groups of 25 to 120 for a wide variety of corporate, sporting, residential and private events. A few limited dates can also be reserved for Weddings.
The school is easily accessible for delegates within easy reach of both London Luton and Heathrow airports, Central London and just a few minutes from the M1 junctions 9 or 10. The school has an extensive selection of facilities for hire suitable for a wide variety of events; current customers include Revision schools, Lacrosse clubs, choirs and Activate Sport.
We have three Boarding Houses:
Keswick
Located in the traditional part of the school is our Girls Boarding House. This can accommodate mixed gender numbers as it is set over 3 floors. There are 73 beds and rooms vary in size and allow for 7,6,4 or 3 to a room.
Crosthwaite
Built in the 1970’s this Boys Boarding House offers a warm modern feel. There are 60 beds and have rooms for 4 or 2 people. Again we can take mixed gender groups.
Skiddaw
This Sixth Form Boarding House was purpose built and offers 8 twin ensuite rooms and 2 singles rooms.
Catering is flexible to suit and can include breakfast, lunch and evening meals. (see link for example menus)
