Sixth Form Facilities

St George’s Sixth Form are fortunate to have one of the best resourced areas for their needs, due to funds raised by previous students and the PSA. They have a suite of computers, a Refectory and a terrace and, due to the large number of students, they have a set of rules to ensure the selfish few do not spoil it for the rest; rules requested and created by the Sixth Form to protect their facilities.

In fact the Sixth Form have a wing of the School for their own use and care. Downstairs there is a Refectory and upstairs has been organised into various study areas, which are equipped with computers. The students have elected to have a “Silent Study” room and a “Quiet Study” room. In addition, students can also use the LRC (Library) facilities in the School, which is suitable for silent study. If students wish to work outside, they can use the Chapel Garden area, the Grant Quad area or the terrace by the Refectory, where there are benches, but students must avoid disturbing nearby classes.

Most appealing perhaps is the Refectory, which is a Sixth Form privilege, and provides a choice of popular snacks and drinks, as requested by the students. It is open term time only from:-

8.00 am – 2.45pm Monday to Thursday
8.00 am – 2.30pm Friday

The Refectory also provides a space for communal working and, during study periods, students may watch live television news broadcasts.

Sixth Form students may eat in the Refectory, the Chapel Quad and the terrace. Food and drink do not travel to ‘"rehearsals", "duties", "the Dining Hall", "art exams", "the Boarding House" or any of the Sixth Form study areas.
